Local Information
As well
as some wonderful beaches near at hand, Portsmouth has plenty
to explore - from Henry VIII's Mary Rose to World War II submarines.
Charles Dickens was born in Portsmouth and his birthplace
is now a museum. Interesting day trips include Chichester
with its majestic cathedral and world famous theatre, and
Beaulieu Abbey with its unique collection of veteran cars.
Portsmouth's naval history is very much part of the hotel with the
HM Naval Base, home to the Mary Rose and HMS Victory, just 200 yards
away. The hotel is also well placed for exploring the D-Day Museum,
Royal Marines Museum and a host of other maritime attractions. For
those who wish to explore further afield, Beaulieu and the New Forest
are only a short distance drive and the Isle of Wight ferry is only
minutes from our doors. We are also conveniently situated for the
continental ferry port.
Some of our rooms have views across the harbour where you can spend the evening
admiring the ships such as the historic HMS Warrior pictured
right. |
